Apple to Launch Next iOS Version?

A report published on New Year’s Day claims that Apple Inc. is all set to launch the next version of its operating system, the iOS. According to information received from Times-Herald, the technology giant has already started testing the iOS 7 version on a new iPhone model. Leading app development companies across the world have also confirmed references to iPhone identifiers in their usage logs. Their statements claim that the iPhone 6.1 model will run the updated version of iOS platform. In fact, app requests for the new Apple operating system version have already been registered on the developer logs; if the report published is to be believed, they are originating from a website address identified with usage within the Cupertino giant’s workplace. Compatibility of popular mobile applications on iOS 7 is also being tested by Apple.

However, the above mentioned website does not hold any authentication claims regarding the report. It has been stated in statements from the website personnel that data derived about mobile devices and operating systems can often be faked. In this case though, the IP footprint is unique and the attempt of sharing the Apple OS upgradation news can be led back to the company’s Cupertino campus.

The current version of operating system running in Apple devices such as iPhone 5.1 and iPhone 5.2 is iOS 6. These versions were released in the mobile market by Apple in the month of September this year. if the reports circulating in the technology circle come true, the world mobile industry will be presented with iphone 6 and iOS 7 towards the middle of this new year.

Copper Mobile, one of the reputed iPhone App Developer and mobile developers has emerged as a leader in the field with more than 300 apps to its credit.

Google Launches Updated iOS Search App

The Google Search iOS app, that was originally supposed to have been released in the month of August, is finally ready for unveiling. So all you search aficionados, dabble with this enhanced search tool to get answers to your questions. According to reports published in TechCrunch, the voice search functionality of the new app is strikingly similar to that of Google Now. All the user needs to do to access this app is to hit the button, ask the question, and wait a few seconds for the app to answer.

So what is new about the iOS Search app? Once a user asks a question, the app will display the responses by tapping into the Google Knowledge Graph. For instance, if you want to know the weather of the location you are in, the Google iOS Search app will not only speak out the hourly forecast but also display all standard search results related to the same question. The graphical touches in the responses are to be looked forward to, say analysts.

As the app is yet to be released in the market, consumers are excited about its new prospects. However, not being entirely different from Google Now, and owing to the fact that important changes are to be made to improve Google Now, the iOS Search app will not only face stiff competition but also be heavily compared. Will it be a hit or a miss? We are still waiting for the verdict.

The Shrinking Lead of iOS over Android in App Monetization

The statistics in app world are changing. Apple's iOS patform is no longer considered to be the best for application monetization.

The app market has stuck to the notion for a long time that iOS monetization was five times better than that of Android. The Android platform was undoubtedly bigger, but users who actually paid for apps were most likely using iPad, iPhone, or iPod. There were more free applications in Google Play, then in App Store but they were not driving in any profit. But, in-app purchases, traffic coming through social channels, and advertising are now changing the app monetization trend & Android is no longer as far behind.

A number of ways have evolved to let developers know who all are interested in their apps and how they can make money from users.

Josh Williams, President & Chief Science Officer at Kontagent said, "When we compared app downloads in Android and iOS across same geographic area and on smartphone versus tablet trend, iOS monetized only 40-50 percent more than Android, which is not a very big differentiator". He also added, “by focusing on the core objectives, developers & marketers both can make Android more profitable”.

The profitability on Android can be higher. Though it monetizes a little on a per user basis when compared to iOS, the acquisition cost on Android is lower on a per user basis. Businesses consider this acquisition cost factor and allocate their spending on marketing and development on the per user per install basis.

BlackBerry and Windows platform aren't able to get much attention from application developers. If a business is looking for real branding by approaching mass market, then it might consider developing apps on platforms other than iOS & Android.

More than 70 percent of the applications in iOS are meant for enterprises. Since, Buy Your Own Device culture is spreading, there are many users complaining about security issues on Android, which is working in favor of iOS.

We can't deny that iOS still is loved and preferred by most developers and Android will have to acknowledge all the concerns to get an equal or more market share.

Customizing Google Chrome for iOS & Making it Your Default Browser

Google released the Chrome browser for iOS platform last week and within no time, it became the top app on the Apple's App Store chart. Google Chrome is an amazing alternative for Apple users who were bored of Safari and were hunting for a change.

If you are a Google Chrome lover, you will be glad to know that a couple of Cydia tweaks can make Chrome the best replacement for Safari. But, you need to make Chrome as your default iOS browser in order to add enhancements.

You cannot replace Safari with Chrome if the phone isn't jailbroken. So, Browser Changer, which is a jailbreak tweak in Cydia will allow you to set the third-party browser as default while opening links in the device. Browser Charger can be downloaded for free in Cydia. After downloading Browser Charger, you have to select Google Chrome from tweak's settings.
It's time to add a few tweaks to your Google Chrome to make it even better. Install Chromizer in Cydia and get set to play with some awesome features of your new default browser.
Here are a bundle of advantages of installing Chromizer:
  • If you want to initiate a full screen mode in your device, tap once with three fingers and iOS status bar will disappear.
  • The "pull to refresh" feature is also present for reloading webpages.
  • More intuitive navigation by swiping to left or right with two fingers.
  • Users can enable iPhone like tab switching in order to make switching tabs with one finger, more apparent.
The Google Chrome tweak in Cydia is getting applauds from iOS users who love to have full control on their device. There's one thing that might bother you after switching to Chrome. In Safari, it is easy to quickly add ".com" to domain names as you enter them in search or address bar. But, Chrome has the generic keyboard layout and lacks in this feature. So, you will not get access to the same domain shortcuts. In case you want to resolve the issue, there's a free tweak with the name of ChromeURL available, which will bring the familiar Safari browser keyboard layout back.
